X-Men Go Japan!

Posted by Marty Day on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

One of the very first posts I ever wrote here on BMore Nerdy was the announcement of the Marvel Anime series coming to the US, particularly onto Male Geek channel G4.

At the time, we only had a look at Iron Man, it seems that the information has been revealed about the X-Men series, soon to premiere in Japan and show here later this year.

Scheduled for an April 1st airdate, the character re-designs featured above are both familiar and dramatically different.

If you’re wondering why they’re so glum, maybe the plot synopsis will give it away for you…

The X-Men are reunited following the death of a teammate, and are summoned by Charles Xavier to Japan following the abduction of Hisako Ichiki (Armor). There, they confront the U-Men, a lunatic cult that steals and transplants mutant organs to further strengthen their own army, and the battle for justice is on.

Yeah, I’d be sad too, if my friend died and then I had to fight a bunch of guys.

What do you think of the new looks?

Two New X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Posters Show The Past And The Future!

Posted by Marty Day on Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

While the first trailer for X-Men: First Class didn’t do much for me, the more that Fox reveals images from the film, the more intrigued I become.

And that has continued with today’s release of two new posters from the film.

Following the teaser poster (which was a simple, tasteful Xavier School logo), these two new posters show the main leads of the film, Michael Fassbender as Magneto and James McAvoy as Professor Xavier respectively, and showcase not just who they are in the film, but who they eventually will become.

In a world of photoshopped headshots, these are some very strong, evocative images, and I applaud the marketing team for making them.

Let’s just hope the movie is as cool as these posters are.

X-Men: First Class hits theaters on June 3, 2011.
