Former State Sen. Clarence Mitchell, IV

Having made it to Annapolis last Wednesday, I had the opportunity to see Maryland politics at work first-hand. As the budget is the primary focus, still a litany of other issues will be discussed and debated. Bills that survive scrutiny and that have the support of the majority become law.

Do see our interviews, including Delegate Dr. Dan Morhaim http://www.bmorenews.com/video/dr-delegate-dan-morhaim-opening-day-of-the-md-gene.shtml (among his objectives is making medical marijuana available), Delegate Frank Turner http://www.bmorenews.com/video/howard-countys-delegate-frank-turner-in-annapolis.shtml (he’s talking about gaming and the 2010 statewide election in MD), and Delegate Ron George http://www.bmorenews.com/video/30th-districts-delegate-ron-george.shtml (among his interests is health care).

Other interviews include former Gov. Robert Ehrlich, WBAL radio host C4, and Attonrey General Doug Gansler.

  3. The medical marijuana issue has little to do with helping people and more to do with making the drug legal for all those who want to get high and not get into any trouble. If we really want to use marijuana for medical purposes why haven’t we sent it through the same process as all drugs, and that is having the FDA approval and dispence through pharmacies. Instead Marijuana is being distributed through dispensories set up just for pot and in a recent story from Denver, after passing their medical marijuana law ended up with more Marijuana dispensories than Starbucks. You can’t beleive that marijuana is this great wonder drug that cures all. But they have crooked Doctor’s that will write a prescription for just about any ailment, so you can get your medical pot. What a joke. Its already creating a new black market in LA and is being sold to more kids than from drug dealers. Also, please remember the goal of smoking pot is to get high and even higher, thus creating many levels of impairment. So would you get on a airplane or train if the pilot or engineer had just smoked pot. Of course not, because we all know that getting high means being stoned and that leads to accidents, injuries and addiction. So we need to tell the truth and not jump on the Medical pot band wagon because in the long run we will end up like we are now with Alcohol and that is a huge problem we can’t stop.
