So Billy Nelson’s retiring too.
No but really, why didn’t I become a professional athlete so that I could retire in my early 30s?
While Aristodemo is moving onto Florida, I expect Nelson will be staying here. The defender coaches several area youth teams and is a Bel Air native.
Over the course of his 10-season career with the Blast, Nelson recorded 300 blocks, 48 goals and 41 assists.
With P.J. Wakefield retiring a couple years ago, and Giuliano Celenza announcing his retirement prior to the end of the 2010-11 season, it does kind of feel like the end of an era.
At least Nelson and Aristodemo are smart; they’re not going on to become cops like Wakefield and Celenza. I mean, seriously, haven’t these guys ever watched “The Wire?”
