Cortly Witherspoon and the presidency of the NAACP

Posted on Thursday, April 1st, 2010 at 2:24 am

I stumbled upon a facebook page dedicated to the candidacy of Reverend Cortly “C.D.” Witherspoon, Sr. I had no idea what position he was running for so I asked around and I heard some rumors about him running for president of the Baltimore chapter of the NAACP (The election is in November). I called Reverend Witherspoon to get the inside scoop on the matter. He did not deny that he was running. He said he was interested and was giving it some thought.

I also heard through the grapevine that he already is putting together a slate to run for other positions within the organization. All members get to vote in the election and it only costs $30 to be a member. Marvin “Doc” Cheatham is the current president of the Baltimore City chapter of the NAACP.
