Over the last few weeks I have read every comment made about the stories I have posted. It seems like there are a lot of very frustrated people out there. They feel like the mainstream Baltimore media is not tough enough on our leaders. Some even feel like the media just regurgitates what the leaders tell them to say. I have received a lot of positive feedback about what I have posted here. I am proud of what I have posted but at the same time I ashamed of what has become of the media in Baltimore. There are so many urgent and big stories out there and yet the large companies that make up our local media pass them over. They actually have some good reporters but they have them covering lame things or they only have one reporter covering a very large beat. It seems like the media only covers a story once there is public pressure to cover the story.
I always loved to read the morning paper when I was younger. It appears that newspapers may be a thing of the past now. It feels strange that blogs may be the final nail in the coffin of newspaper style print media. We need as many voices out there as possible. If there are no eyes watching the government then we are doomed.
For those of you who have never heard of it, “Square Off” used to be a political debate show in the 1980s hosted and moderated by Richard Sher on 13 at 7:00 or 7:30 on Saturday nights. There were always four political type guests sitting around a table with Sher at the top of the table. He used to bang a gavel a lot to calm the people down. I was just a little kid at the time, but the arguments were very entertaining to watch.
Square Off has been back on ABC 2 for a few months now. This Sunday at 6:30PM I will be a guest on the show. It should be interesting. The topics and the format are a bit limiting. I won’t be able to let loose like I did here:
