BOB DAVIDSON FORD LINCOLN SERVES AS A DROP-OFF LOCATION FOR TOYS FOR TOTS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

With the holiday season upon us once again, Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln encourages everyone to do their part to help brighten the holiday season for hundreds of area families in need across the Baltimore Metropolitan area. Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln will serve as a drop off location for Toys for Tots, as well as support the Baltimore County Department of Social Services Annual Free Toy Store.

Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln will support the local Toys for Tots donation drive by serving as a drop off location for gifts at our showroom at 1845 East Joppa Road in Baltimore. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys throughout the holiday season that are distributed as holiday gifts to needy children in the community in which they are collected. Toys for Tots helps needy children experience joy during the holiday season while engaging the local community to make a positive difference.

Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln also encourages the community’s participation in our continued support of the Baltimore County Department of Social Services toy drive. We will host a holiday party at which toy donations will be accepted and then delivered to the Baltimore County Department of Social Services for their annual free toy store. Families in need are invited to the free toy store to choose toys and clothes to bring home to their families for the holidays. In previous years nearly 2,000 households were assisted which represents more than 4,000 children.

If you are able to donate a toy for either of our toy drives, it could help make the holidays a truly magical time for many children across the area. Toys can be donated and dropped off at our showroom at 1845 East Joppa Road in Baltimore. Thanks for your support and Happy Holidays!

How to Maximize Your Trade In Value

How to Maximize Your Trade In Value:

Trading in your car can be a sticky subject for both retailers and consumers. The key is to understand what the trade in value is (the wholesale value of your car), the different values your car has (wholesale, private party value and retail value), and that we here at Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln are trying to max out your trade in value and give it all back to you.

The better condition your car is in, the more it is going to be worth. There are a few things you can do to make sure you get the maximum trade in value for your car. The first is to make sure all the original equipment is included: both sets of keys, floor mats, owner’s manual, etc. These can all affect your trade in value, especially if the dealership is planning to resell the car. The second is to make sure the vehicle is clean. Dirt won’t be held against you, but if the car is beyond reconditioning it could hurt the value. Don’t be afraid to run it to the car wash before you bring it in, first impressions always count! The closer your vehicle is to how it was the day you drove it for the first time, the better.

There are plenty of resources out there (in print and online) that will give drivers an idea of what their car is worth; popular publications include Kelley Blue Book, Edmunds and NADAguides.com. All of these will give you a general idea of the price range you should be looking for, but it is important to realize that most dealerships do not use these guides. Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln, as well as many others, uses the Black Book which tracks real auction sales. It takes into consideration many categories and is generally a very accurate guide the value of a car.

Getting the Most Out of Your Test Drive

Getting the Most Out of Your Test Drive

Buying a car can be a challenging experience at times and we here at Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln want to make the process as easy as possible. Obviously the color, price and style has to be right, but our number one suggestion in determining if a car is right for you is a test drive.

A new car is a long-term decision and you need to make sure you are comfortable in the vehicle you are buying. Once you are in the car, pay attention to your line of sight and how the seat actually feels around you. Then consider if the car is big enough to fit your family and all of their belongings. Our recommendation is to use your test drive to simulate your everyday driving patterns.

We offer extended test drives so that you may take the car to your home, drive to work and back, drive to your child’s school or places you go every day. Simulating your everyday activities will help you decide whether that is the right car for you and your lifestyle.

A car is a big purchase, and we want to make sure you are doing what’s right for you. While research is extremely important, when it comes time to make a final decision, be sure to get behind the wheel for a while!

Tips for Winterizing Your Car from Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln

Tips for Winterizing Your Car

As much as everyone enjoys the crisp fall air and watching the leaves change, it inevitably means one thing, winter will soon be upon us; that means dropping temperatures, ice scrapers, and some extra car care to ensure your vehicle runs smoothly into the spring. We here at Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln wanted to share some essential tips for winterizing your car so you and your vehicle can be safe through the colder and snowy months ahead.

The first thing you want to be sure to check is your cooling system.  You want to make sure you have a 50:50 mix of anti-freeze and water inside your radiator. If there isn’t enough anti-freeze in the mix, it could potentially freeze in the cold weather. The same goes for your washer solvent. You need a liquid with a higher concentration of washer solvent so your wiper spray does not freeze as the temperature drops. It is also a good idea to replace your wiper blades every year. There are many blades that are made for winter use and will hold up well in the snow and ice.

Last but certainly not least is battery care. Cold temperatures can reduce a vehicle’s battery power so it is an ideal time of year to make sure your battery posts and connections are free of corrosion. It is also essential to have your battery checked by a certified repair shop if it is more than three years old.

Once your car is in good shape, drive safely and stay warm this winter!

Helping Area Students in Need During Back-to-School Time

As August comes and goes, the focus for many area families turns to back-to-school shopping. Commercials and ads promote the newest technology and most stylish clothes – but what if simply supplying a child with the basic necessities like pencils, pens and paper was the issue. For many families in the Baltimore metropolitan area, it is, and we here at Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln wanted to help.

Our family of employees has “adopted” a number of local area children in the community in need of school supplies for the upcoming school year. Through the Baltimore County Department of Social Services, our company will help provide the children of financially disadvantaged families with much needed back to school supplies including pencils, pens, paper, folders, binders, crayons, backpacks, book bags, and more.

We are proud to serve as a community partner throughout the year and help support our local families in need where we live and work through creative programs that make a positive difference in the lives of children. This is a great program that can change the lives of students in our area forever by providing them the basic tools to succeed in school. Bob Davidson Ford Lincoln is excited to do our part as a community partner and we encourage other local companies to get involved with worthwhile organizations supporting education in your local community.

  1. No idling – turn off your car if you’re stuck in a time-consuming traffic jam
  2. Keep your tires properly inflated
  3. Slow down your speed
  4. Drive at an even pace as much as possible – no speeding up and slowing down
  5. Combine your trips to cut down on mileage
  6. Reduce the amount of weight in your car (check the trunk before you leave for your trip – and leave unwanted baggage at home)
  7. Check your route for the best course
  8. Track the best gas prices for the return trip

If you are able to master these tips and follow all 8 you can save roughly 35 cents per gallon at the gas pump. 78 Years of Loyalty

Posted by Bruce Schindler on Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

We came across this unique story that Mr. Allen Swift of West Harford, CT, died in October of 2005 at the age of 102… what was unique about the story was that this man owned the same 1928 Rolls-Royce Picadilly P1 Roadster for 78 years! Remarkable!

Hats off to Mr. Swift, who donated this beauty of a car to a local Springfield Museum upon his death.
